Press Release: Court of Master Sommeliers & WSPC

SOMMELIERS FROM 14 COUNTRIES AT WSPC TO OBTAIN

THE LEADING CERTIFICATION IN WINERY AT A GLOBAL LEVEL

From March 28th to 30th, Athens once again became a magnet for world-class professional Sommeliers. The Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS), the leading Sommelier certification organization internationally, offers the CMS courses and exams (Introductory and Certified Exams) twice a year in collaboration with WSPC – the leader in wine education in Southeastern Europe and Greece.

The graduation dinner and the announcement of the results took place on a special evening, in the presence of three Master Sommeliers (MS) – representatives of the CMS organization, who conducted the program in Athens, as well as Konstantinos Lazarakis Master of Wine (MW) – President of the WSPC. The successful candidates – including Greeks – did not hide their enthusiasm and emotion upon receiving their Diplomas, closing in the best possible way a particularly demanding three-day event.

A special place in the graduation, as well as in the entire program of hospitality for the CMS representatives and the candidates, was also held by the Greek Branded Wine under the auspices of EDOAO (National Interprofessional Organization of Vine and Wine). Sixteen (16) Greek Winemakers offered selected labels and honored the organizers and participants with their presence during educational dinners, taking advantage of the presence of prestigious personalities in our country and professional sommeliers who hold important positions in top restaurants in Europe.

Through this synergy of WSPC with the wine industry, the recognition of the Greek Branded Wine is further enhanced among a targeted audience/potential ambassadors who co-shape trends and drive a significant part of the global wine market and consumption.

CMS students came to our country for the three-day training of the Court of Master Sommeliers from every corner of the world (Abu Dhabi, France, Germany, Denmark, Greece, USA, Croatia, Morocco, Bahrain, Norway, Hungary, Portugal, Slovenia, Turkey) while working in internationally awarded restaurants and/or leading groups as well as famous resorts (Boen Gård /Kristiansand, Norway, Club Prive by Rixos / Abu Dhabi, Dubravkin put / Zagreb, Croatia, Eneko Restaurant / Lisbon, Portugal, Forty Eight Wine Bar & Kitchen / Kiawah Island, USA, Gala de l’Union de la Sommellerie Française / Paris, France, Gostilna Ruj / Slovenia, Kearny / Munich, Germany, LUA Resort Balatonfüred / Hungary, NCN GmbH / Stuttgart, Germany, Palace Boutique / Bahrain, Restaurant Esmée / Copenhagen, Denmark, Rovinj / Zagreb, Sofitel Palais Imperial & Lounge and Spa / Morocco, Villa Macakizi / Bodrum, Turkey, Ammos Hotel / Hania, Canaves Oia Suites / Santorini, Familia / Kythira, Hytra Restaurant / Athens, Greece, Nammos world / Mykonos, Dubai, Doha).
