Court of Master Sommeliers & WSPC
At WSPC, sommeliers from 15 countries will be acquiring the top certification in oenology worldwide.
From November 22 to 24, Athens once again became a magnet for world-class professional sommeliers. The Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS), the leading international sommelier certification organization, offers CMS courses and exams (Introductory and Certified Exams) twice a year in collaboration with WSPC – the leader in wine education in Southeastern Europe and Greece.
On a special evening at the “Aleria” restaurant, the graduation dinner and the announcement of the results were held, in the presence of two Masters Sommeliers (MS), representatives of the CMS organization that conducted the program in Athens, as well as Konstantinos Lazarakis MW – President of WSPC. The successful candidates – including Greeks – did not hide their enthusiasm and emotion upon receiving their Diplomas, closing in the best possible way a particularly demanding three-day event.
A special place in the graduation, as well as in the entire hospitality program for the CMS representatives and the candidates, was also occupied by the Greek Branded Wine under the auspices of EDOAO (National Interprofessional Organization of Vine and Wine). Twenty-three (23) Greek Winemakers offered their selected labels and honored the organizers and participants with their presence during the educational program, taking advantage of the presence in our country of prestigious personalities and professional sommeliers who hold important positions in top restaurants in Europe.
Through this synergy of WSPC with the wine industry, the recognition of the Greek Branded Wine is further enhanced among a targeted audience/potential ambassadors who co-shape trends and drive a significant part of the global wine market and consumption.
CMS students came to our country for the three-day training of the Court of Master Sommeliers from every corner of Europe (Austria, France, Germany, Denmark, Greece, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Malta, Ukraine, Poland, Scotland, Turkey, Finland) while working in internationally awarded restaurants and/or leading groups as well as famous resorts (Club Prive by Rixos / Abu Dhabi, Le Jardin du Martinez / Cannes, Kaskis Restaurant / Turku Finland, Tartarun Restaurant / Malta, Lume de Carozo / Vello de Vigo, Garden Restaurant / Kraków, Eat Drink Fun / USA, Thirlmere Deacon Property Investment / UK, WineClass Academy / Denmark, Amanzoe / Kranidi, Greece, By the glass / Athens, Vintage Wine Bar & Bistro / Athens, Canaves Oia Suites / Santorini, Mea Terra / Rhodes, , My Cava By Depot Des Vins / Athens, Sani Asterias 5*, Sani Resort / Halkidiki, Warehouse Food Wine / Greece)
