
Roussakis Elias
Elias Roussakis was born and raised in Piraeus.
He studied at the Agricultural University of Athens with a specialization in Viticulture and carried out a research project on the root system of the vine. He continued for a postgraduate degree at SupAgro Montpellier and at ENITA de Bordeaux, with a scholarship from the French state and at the same time obtained the French state Oenologist degree, DNO.
In 2022 he graduated from the WSET Diploma, the educational crown of WSPC with only 75 graduates in Greece. For his highest performance in the Viticulture & Oenology examination, in 2024, he was awarded the Honorary Scholarship “Dr. Stavroula Kourakou – Dragona, Hon DipWSET”.
He worked at Montagne St Emillion, in Santorini (Sigala Estate and Hatzidakis Winery), in Tinos (T-Oinos). He was instrumental in the establishment of the winery “Basaltis Vineyards” in Santorini, where he worked as production manager for a decade.
Since 2013, he has been advising wineries in Tinos, Paros, Kos, Naxos, Syros and Troizina on vineyard management, winemaking and strategic planning.
Since 2024, he has been collaborating with the WSPC as a lecturer in the wine education unit.
He has participated in regulatory committees of the Santorini PDO wine, in international wine competitions and as a columnist in wine industry publications.
He lives in Athens with his family.
