SAKE at WSPC and in Greece
A sought-after drink with a rich history
SAKE is a fermented product like wine and beer and comes from rice. Although it is the national drink of Japan, the first mention of SAKE production is found in China in 4800 BC, while in Japan it arrived in the 3rd century AD. Initially, it was the drink of religion, nobles and emperors. However, over the centuries its consumption spread to all social classes, and today we have come to talk about the innovative, special and mysterious drink of the world.
Sought after among consumers, it constitutes essential knowledge for our students and graduates – professionals of the Greek market. Today, worldwide, it is gaining more and more friends through the general promotion of Japanese gastronomy.
From Japan to the WSPC desks
The first SAKE teaching begins with SAKE Level 1, on Monday, October 30th at the state-of-the-art facilities of the WSPC. A Certified SAKE Instructor will travel from the United Kingdom for the needs of the program. Each SAKE Level 1 training program consists of 8 hours of lessons and exams.
Interested parties can learn more about the program and proceed to register by clicking here.
The SAKE Level 1 training outline includes the main styles and types of SAKE, their representative characteristics, storage and serving methods, basic tasting principles as well as the combination of SAKE with food.
WSPC President, Konstantinos Lazarakis MW, proud of the inclusion of SAKE in the certified WSPC training outline, stated: “We are now talking about the “de-gassing” of SAKE. SAKE comes from Japanese tables and is served in all restaurants and bars around the world. If many consumers still philosophize about it or consider it too exotic, mainly because they don’t know about it, what is certain is that the WSPC courses will create SAKE lovers in Greece and in the near future Greece will acquire its first SAKE SAMURAI through WSPC.”
